Most of Sunbury is new. Its first roofs are turning 20.

Sunbury is one of the youngest towns we work in, and one of the busiest for us.

Most of the town is new. The typical Sunbury home was built in 2005, and almost 6 in 10 went up in 2000 or later. A third of all its homes were built in the 2010s alone. A roof put on in the mid-2000s is about 20 years old now. That's often when the first problems show up: shingles that lift or crack, worn flashing around vents and chimneys, and granules washing into the gutters.

The houses around the old village square are another story. About 1 in 12 Sunbury homes was built before 1940. Older houses bring their own roof work: chimneys that need new flashing, and sometimes a second layer of shingles laid over the first that has to come off.

On March 14, 2024, an EF1 tornado crossed Alum Creek Reservoir into the neighborhoods southwest of Sunbury, with winds the National Weather Service estimated at 95 to 105 mph. Homes there lost windows, and some lost part of their roofs. Wind like that can also break the seal that holds shingles down without tearing them off, and that's hard to see from the ground.

  • If I had not seen my new shingles I wouldn’t have known they were actually here. I never saw the dumpster delivered or picked up. My property was just how I had left it that morning. I was very impressed. I highly recommend them!

  • When we saw water stains on our ceiling, we immediately called Richie Wilson and he was at our house within 24 hours to assess. He figured out the cause and it was successfully repaired quickly. His work was efficient and effective with absolutely no problems since. And, his prices were extremely fair. If you need a roofing company, go with Richie Wilson!

Questions from Sunbury.

Near Sunbury, we also work in

Is the inspection free in Sunbury?

Yes. Inspections are free everywhere we work, Sunbury included. We get on the roof and show you what we find.

Do I need a permit for a new roof in Sunbury?

Not for the shingles. The City of Sunbury lists replacing roof shingles, and repairing or replacing roof sheathing, among the jobs that don't need a permit. Replacing rafters or trusses does, and that permit comes from the Delaware County Department of Building Safety. When a permit is needed, we pull it for you.

How do I know if wind damaged my roof?

Look for shingles in the yard, dark patches where shingles are missing, or granules piling up below the downspouts. A lot of wind damage doesn't show from the ground, though: shingles that have come unsealed or creased but are still in place. That's what the inspection is for, and we'll show you photos either way.

My neighborhood has an HOA. Does that change anything?

It can. Many HOAs set rules on shingle color or style. We work with you to stay within yours, and we'll bring samples that fit.

Can you tarp my roof tonight?

Yes, including nights and weekends. Call 614.707.1170.
